Wendy’s has recently announced its upcoming spring lineup of new menu offerings, including a Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap that could finally appease the long-standing McWrap lovers. The menu will be available starting March 28th and will feature:
1. Blueberry Pomegranate Lemonade
As you probably already know, Wendy’s already has a great lineup of lemonades. But we think this new addition is going to be a hit with customers. The Blueberry Pomegranate Lemonade is described as having tart notes with a pretty color.
2. Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad
The spring salad has all the main Cobb ingredients like applewood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, crispy fried onions, diced tomatoes and diced egg.
3. Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap
The new wrap has diced grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, creamy ranch sauce and warm tortilla. Wendy’s in its press release stated “Some say it’s the only chicken wrap worth obsessing over.”
Wendy’s Takes a Jab at McDonald’s
While the Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap is certainly exciting for Wendy’s fans, what’s even more interesting is the fact that Wendy’s is taking direct shots at McDonald’s. In order to usher in their new menu, Wendy’s has removed their original Grilled Chicken Sandwich from their menu offerings. A spokesperson from the company stated that this move was made because “our consumers love ranch products.”
Wendy’s has clearly taken inspiration from McDonald’s Snack Wraps, which were the precursor to the larger-format McWraps. The Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap contains many of the same basic ingredients as the Snack Wraps, including chicken (crispy or grilled), shredded cheese, lettuce and ranch.
While McDonald’s has made no indication that they plan to bring back the McWrap in the near future, Wendy’s new Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap could be just the thing to gain a customer base that has been left disappointed by McDonald’s inaction. Wendy’s willingness to take direct shots at McDonald’s shows that they’re willing to compete head-on and offer innovative and tasty menu offerings.
Wendy’s vs McDonalds: A Long Standing Rivalry
One of the main differences between Wendy’s and McDonald’s is the type of food they offer. While both chains serve burgers, fries, and chicken sandwiches, Wendy’s also offers a wider selection of salads, baked potatoes, and chili. McDonald’s, on the other hand, is known for its breakfast menu and has a larger selection of desserts.
In terms of quality, Wendy’s prides itself on using fresh, never frozen beef for its burgers, while McDonald’s uses a combination of fresh and frozen beef. Wendy’s also uses higher-quality ingredients for its salads and sides, such as real bacon and sea-salted fries.
