History

In 1975, the first Melting Pot restaurant opened in Maitland, Florida; it only had 3 items on the menu. In 1979, Mark, Mike and Bob Johnston opened The Melting Pot of Tallahassee with the permission of the origin owners. By 1985, the Johnston brothers acquired all the rights to the brand as part of their expansion plans for the franchise.

What It’s Famous For

The Melting Pot menu has a wide range of cheese and chocolate fondues, as well as a good selection of salads, meat and seafood entrées, and wines. The entrées of meat and seafood are served with a choice of oil or broth for the items to be cooked in as well as several dipping sauces.

Why Eat Here

You should always make a reservation so that your group can easily and quickly be seated. You will find that the great customer service starts with the reservation, such as the clerk asking about the number of people in your group, the occasion, and the preferences in location. Your bartenders at the cheese and chocolate bar are likely to be accommodating, attentive, and friendly while still being efficient (i.e., quick and on-point service).

The Melting Pot process of serving the chocolate and cheese fondues are an experience in themselves. Your bartender will light the fondue, stir in seasonings into the chocolate, and present the dipper selection. You will definitely enjoy dipping several types of fruits and treats into the melted chocolate or cheese, such as fresh strawberries, bananas, pineapple slices, brownies, pound cake, graham crackers, and marshmallow treats, to name a few.

Keep in mind that you can control the amount of chocolate on the fruits, cakes, and treats. You can still indulge in the Melting Pot fondue experience without feeling too guilty about the calories.

Aside from the fondue, you can also order the 4-course experience, a full meal with sufficient food to feed an entire family, even a few friends. Your other choices include meat and seafood entrees; wines, cocktails and beers; and desserts like the cheese cake. You must be careful about planning your meal although you can also take home your leftovers, if necessary.
