History of Joe’s Crab Shack

Joe’s Crab Shack began in 1991 when the first branch opened in Houston, Texas. The business had begun to expand almost immediately after and by 2006 was acquired by J.H. Whitney & Company. The company was operating under the name of JCS Holdings LLC but by 2009 Joe’s Crab Shack altered this to Ignite Restaurant Group as the company now owned Brickhouse Tavern and Tap as well as Romano’s Macaroni Grill, showing just how far Joe’s Crab Shack had gone in just a decade’s time. Today there are now 138 different locations in 35 states, with most restaurants placed by the beach to further elaborate the beach and seafood theme of Joe’s Crab Shack.
