History of Hooters

Hooters opened its doors as far back as 1983 and was incorporated on April 1 as a joke because the original six founders believed that the business would fail. The location, which was a former nightclub, was known for being unlucky and just about every business that took up that spot failed. The founders even placed a “graveyard” for all the previous establishments on the Hooters’ front door. However, the formula of using sex appeal, sports and good food became a massive success and to date there are now over 430 locations across the world. The company is now owned by the Chanticleer Holdings LLC who purchased Hooters after the chain had already passed under several different owners.

What’s Hooters Famous For?

The establishment gets its name from the sound of owl and because “hooters” is a slang term for female breasts, coined by Steve Martin in the popular show “Saturday Night Live.” That being said, the restaurants are pretty famous for their young, beautiful waitresses clad in white tank tops and orange runner shorts. However, sex appeal isn’t the only good thing Hooters has to offer as the restaurant chain does offer several screens and good audio systems for sports fanatics, making it the ideal place for groups of men to watch football and other popular sports. The food from Hooters is also a reason for the chain’s popularity, as they do follow the “Bigger is Better” mantra with their Big Hootie burger and Blackened Mahi-Mahi Sandwich.

Why Eat at Hooters

Hooters has some very appealing staff members, that’s for sure, and any man would want to check the place out. However, low Hooters prices are also a draw as it allows groups of friends to come over and watch games like the Super Bowl without having to spend too much. The food is great and particularly fulfills that “All-American” rush. Whether you want to get shirts signed by pretty ladies, grab a bite of a big burger and tacos or just watch football then Hooters is the place to try.
