Panera Bread is on a roll, pun intended! The chain continues to make its presence relevant in the market with new offerings that customers are sure to love. These are two of the new offerings that we think you should know because good things should never be passed up on.
There’s Actually an Unlimited Coffee Subscription
Coffee lovers – or addicts, whatever floats your boat – will love it that Panera Bread offers a $9 monthly subscription for unlimited coffee. Think about it: If you buy the subscription, you can get your fill of coffee for less than 30 cents a day! You can refill your cup of coffee as many times as you want.
And it’s also good business for Panera Bread! You will likely become a loyal customer because your coffee-related needs are being satisfied.
For just $8.99 plus tax per month, you can get a cup of drip hot coffee, iced coffee or hot tea every two hours during regular restaurant hours. This means that your cup of coffee – or ice coffee or hot tea, whichever one you’re in the mood for – can be refilled once every two hours. That should be enough time for the caffeine kick to fade away and then you’re ready for another.
Here’s the fine print since there’s always one. You cannot ask for unlimited refills on drinks other than the ones mentioned above. The drinks not included in the promo include cold brew, espresso drinks, iced tea and other beverages. The subscription can neither be shared nor transferred, too.
The deal is, of course, such a great thing if you’re a fan of these drinks at Panera Bread. You just have to ensure that you can be there lining up for your cup of drip coffee every two hours. If you can’t because of work or distance issues, then you can take comfort in the fact that it’s there for the taking.
Panera Bread has made several upgrades to its coffee program in the past months, too. Each store, for example, grinds its own beans on site every day so the brews are always fresh. The stores also brews coffee at least once every hour so there’s no risk of getting the dregs off the last coffee brewed several hours ago.
There are still four blends to choose from, namely: dark roast, light roast, hazelnut and decaf, so there’s always one for everybody. You can customize your coffee, too, with a wide range of dairy lighteners and with almond milk, all free of charge. You can be as creative as you want with your coffee and nobody will give you shade for it, too.
Bonus point: Panera Bread added a thoughtful sign that shows the time the coffee was brewed. Customers will then know whether they want it or they can wait for the next batch.
Back to the unlimited coffee subscription, you can sign up for the program by downloading the Panera Bread app or visiting an in-store kiosk. The instructions for getting your free refills are in the app.
Drinking coffee regularly has proven health benefits. It can decrease the risk of Type 2 diabetes, liver disease and Parkinson’s disease and increase heart health. But when consumed in large quantities, it can also cause heart palpitations, sleeplessness and other side effects.
The bottom line: Just because Panera Bread offers unlimited coffee refills doesn’t mean that you can drink as many times as you want throughout the day. Moderation is the key to enjoying both its taste and health benefits.
There will be More Plant-based Food and Grains on the Menu
Breads are usually associated with less than healthy food mainly because most of these are made of refined flour and refined sugar. But Panera Bread wants to make breads healthier and, thus, it will be introducing more plant-based food and grains on its menu.
The chain is known for its commitment to 100% clean food, or food without artificial additives, flavorings and other ingredients. But with its customers turning their sights to its rivals, such as CAVA and Sweetgreen, it’s upping the ante with its plans to add healthy food.
According to CEO Niren Chaudhary, the chain will be giving its customers with more grain and plant-based options in the coming years. It will also be adding more high-quality lean cuts of meat.
Plant-based refers to a diet that includes more foods derived from plants and less meat. Currently, Panera Bread’s menu consists of 25% plant-based food, which it plans on increasing to 50% in the near future. Chaudhary says the chain will introduce new plant-based products in all categories by 2021.
Here’s hoping that Panera Bread will follow through on its plans. While lean meat has its merits, it’s also a good idea to add more plant-based food and grains to your diet since these more nutritional benefits.
