Cameron Mitchell, a well-known restaurateur from Columbus, Ohio, founded the Mitchell’s Fish Market restaurant chain. The chain itself is part of the larger group known as Cameron Mitchell Restaurants.

In 2008, the chain was sold to Ruth’s Chris Steak House for $92 million; the company was renamed Ruth’s Hospitality Group after the acquisition. In 2014, Landry’s acquired the chain from Ruth’s Hospitality Group.
