About Mandalay Bay Buffet

Just as the accommodations and casinos are luxurious, so are the food and drinks offered in Mandalay Bay’s in-house buffet restaurant, called the Bayside Buffet. Here, you will find gourmet-level dishes and desserts that will make you come back for more, even bring your family and friends along because great food should be shared.

History

In 1995, Circus Circus Enterprises bought the site on which the Mandalay Bay is presently located. On the site was Hacienda, a large building, which was later imploded to make way for the luxury resort and casino. While it was originally named Project Paradise, the resort complex was renamed Mandalay Bay mainly to evoke the romantic tropical vibe of the poem, “Mandalay”.

When the resort opened on 2 March 1999, many Hollywood celebrities were in attendance including the Blues Brothers and Bob Dylan. In the same year, Circus Circus also changed its corporate name to Mandalay Resort Group.

In February 2005, MGM Mirage (known later as MGM Resorts International) bought the Mandalay Resort Group.

What They Are Famous For

Mandalay Bay is among the leaders in the luxury resort and casino industry in the United States and the world.  Every establishment within its premises has been carefully chosen to be in line with the company’s overall thrust, too, especially in terms of world-class products and services.

Why Eat Here

While there are plenty of dining options available at Mandalay Bay, the Bayside Buffet is undoubtedly the most popular for many reasons. The Mandalay Bay buffet prices, for one thing, are affordable yet the food and drinks are delicious, from their presentation to their flavors. The buffet restaurant, for another thing, is also elegant, even chic, in its interiors, a far cry from the usual buffet restaurant in many casino resorts.

The Bayside Buffet also has an ever-changing menu so there’s always something new to look forward to, especially for the foodies and gourmands. The wide diversity of the food and drinks is obviously the main attraction for the Bayside Buffet, as well as the fact that the offerings for the breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner menus are distinct from each other. No recycling of food at Mandalay Bay, fortunately.

The breakfast menu really takes the cake because of the impressive selections of meats, omelets and pancakes, among others. The choices include roasted turkey breast, chicken fried steak, corn beef hash, breakfast potatoes, blueberry pancakes, turkey bacon, maple glazed ham, Belgium waffes, buttermilk pancakes, chorizo and eggs, apple-smoked pork bacon, and smoked salmon breakfast pizza. There are also seasonal fruits, which are available whole and sliced, as well as an egg and omelet station.

The lunch menu draws in the crowd with its sumptuous array of old Vegas cocktail shrimp, swai fish role, panko crusted salmon, coutry fried chicken, mashed potatoes, garden fresh vegetables, jasmine fried rice, Swedish meatballs, and pork potstickers. Diners can also get their fill of pasta at the dedicated pasta station, which usually has a chef’s selection, as well as indulge in the cookies, cakes and pastries.

The dinner menu is just as impressive with its mountains of Dungeness crab legs and cocktail shrimp! There are also meats galore like New York strip loin, French-cut turkey breast, and sweet and sour pork, to name a few. The menu also features roasted asparagus with roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and pizzas, as well as several types of sushi, Chinese fried rice, and seafood paella. For dessert, there are assorted cakes, cookies and pastries with frozen yogurt thrown in for good measure.

Everything is cooked to perfection so it’s always a challenge to choose the types of food and drinks that will satisfy your palate and stomach. But since there’s always an opportunity to come back, most guests like the challenge.

The bottom line: The Bayside Buffet is the best place if you’re looking for the perfect combination of buffet-style fine dining and reasonable prices.  In fact, most diners consider the prices to be a bargain in comparison with the more expensive prices at other buffet restaurants within luxury resorts on The Strip.

The service is as efficient as can be, too, and it starts as soon as you enter the Bayside Buffet. Guests can use the automated kiosks to pay for their meals via credit cards and cash (ATM restrictions apply) so there isn’t a lengthy wait for tables. Even the cashier line is short so guests can be escorted within 15 minutes or less after arrival.

The Bayside Buffet has an exceptional vibe for a buffet restaurant, thanks to its large windows, high ceilings, and bright interiors. The view includes the beautiful swimming pool, too, while the interiors are characterized by a tropical bungalow feel – teak-colored wood, bamboo-style metal chairs, and natural lighting.
