About Texas Corral

Texas Corral, a chain of steakhouses with locations across several states including Indiana, Illinois and Mississippi, wants to be so closely associated with steaks that when people say “steak”, they will immediately say “Texas Corral”. With its reputation for delicious steaks, the chain is getting closer to its goal.

History

Texas Corral locations have been serving satisfied customers for several years now. All of them are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, as well as from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

What They’re Famous For

The restaurant chain is known for the succulent, juicy and flavorful quality of its steaks, which are supposedly prepared according to the Texan traditions. The meat is allowed to shine, so to speak, with the proper preparation from the aging to the chargrilling while the accoutrements, such as the side, salad, and gravy, complement the steak. This is a steakhouse striving to be the first name in steaks, preferably along the lines of Texas – bigger in size, flavors and quality.

Why Eat Here

Keep in mind that the Texas Corral chain is a true-blue steakhouse. As such, your visits to its locations should be done with one main objective in mind – to enjoy the best steaks this side of town.

The steaks are worthy of every visit, thanks to their appetite-satisfying sizes, explosions-of-flavor experience, and budget-friendly Texas Corral prices.  Each steak order already comes with soups, salads or potato so it’s a complete meal – you only need to order your drinks and desserts, if you want the whole shebang.

You will want to order the porterhouse, a 24-ounce soul-satisfying steak the size of Texas, so to speak. You can pair it with your choice potato, as well as either a soup or salad. You also have the choice of the 16-ounce Cowboy Steak, a rib-eye steak that gives another meaning to tickling your taste buds with the sumptuous flavors of Texan meat.

Your Texas Corral dining experience can be more adventurous by trying out other cuts of steak aside from your all-time favorites. Your choices include sirloin, a cut small on being stingy and big on flavor, and panhandle prime rib, a thick-cut meat roasted over slow fire for maximum tenderness. Even the country fried steak, a 12-ounce cut breaded and fried before being served with mashed potatoes and white gravy, is worth a try.

The steaks also come in petite size, such as the 3-ounce medallion-style filet mignon. Don’t dismiss it as too small as every bite delivers big explosions of flavor in your mouth, not to mention that it’s right up your weight loss alley.

But if you’re so hungry that only a large plate filled with meaty goodness will do, we suggest two menu items. First, the Texas Grub consists of a 12-ounce steak served with sautéed onions and mushrooms, topped by melted Monterey Jack cheese, and served with side and soup or salad.  Second, the Steak and Lobster Dinner combines the joys of steak and seafood, particularly lobster tail, because life is about enjoying both sides of two worlds.

Other combos include the Louisiana Shrimp & BBQ Ribs, breaded shrimp and 6-ounce sirloin; Mesquite Chicken & Shrimp, 10-ounce grilled chicken breast served with a skewer of grilled shrimp; and Sirloin & Fried Shrimp, 6-ounce sirloin with jumbo-sized fried shrimp. Many diners say that the Texas Corral chain may be having an identity crisis due to these pairings but most diners like the variety in the food.

Beef may be the star of the show but pork is also a favorite menu item in Texas Corral. There’s BBQ Pork Back Ribs, which are Texas ribs served with in-house sauce, and BBQ Pulled Pork served with mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and a choice of soup or salad.  Be sure to try out the fajitas consisting of tortillas, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, grilled peppers and onions, and sour cream, too.

When you have such a wide range of food to choose from, your craving for Texas-sized meals can be easily satisfied. You even have sweet desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth, such as the old-fashioned sundae, the triple chocolate chips in a brownie, and the snickers pie.

As for the service rendered by the wait staff, you will likely be satisfied with it. The Texas Corral chain is giving its competitors a run for its money by providing its diners with fast, efficient and friendly service, whether you’re a couple on a date or a large group enjoying a party.  The casual and relaxed ambiance is almost like being at home so you can eat your meals without being too conscious about fine dining etiquette.
