Trends come and go, especially when it comes to healthy eating. This is why timing is crucial, especially for new concepts that are meant to take advantage of such trends. Fad or not, it will be a great way to make a profit if you’re one of the first folks to provide the public with the latest grub.
Jamba Juice is a great example of this, as it has benefitted from the juicing trend a couple of times already. While it wasn’t exactly intentional, they were one of the first to offer healthy juices from when juices became popular in the 90s to when the trend had a resurgence a couple of years ago.
Jamba Juice prices, menu, and overall friendly branding hit the spot for its target market, so it’s not surprising that they didn’t fold after the trend died down.

How did Jamba Juice start? This juice bar was actually a senior school project by the founder Kirk Perron as he completed his degree in California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly). Perron was an avid cyclist and a healthy-lifestyle advocate so he came up with the idea of offering healthier drinks to the public.
In 1990, Jamba Juice was founded in San Luis Obispo, California. He partnered up with a couple of his friends to establish the new venture. It got its name from the Swahili word ‘jamba’ which means ‘to celebrate’ to express the fun and active nature of the brand. After more than a decade, the company decided to expand its market by acquiring Zuka Juice.
By 2008, Jamba Juice transitioned from a juice bar to an actual shop. They started offering additional menu items including wraps, salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads.
After the brand’s acquisition by the Focus Brands in 2018, Jamba Juice has also most recently gone through another transformation. It has been rebranded as “Jamba” and are about to revamp all of their stores soon after. This brand relaunch will also include new offerings that will get on with the latest health trends as well as provide more convenience to customers.
With the rebranding, Jamba aims to not just cater to juice enthusiasts but healthy-eaters in general as well. Their boldest move is to add acai bowls on the menu to attract more of and provide additional services to the health buff crowd. They’re also planning on leaning more to plant-based ingredients instead of dairies when it comes to their juices and smoothies.
What They’re Famous For
Being a juice and smoothie shop, Jamba Juice, of course, is best known for its juices, smoothies, and drinks in general. The thing that sets them apart from other smoothie shops, however, is the fact that they strive to provide the healthiest and most natural options to their consumers.
For starters, they promise to only use real and balanced ingredients. By doing so, they promise to provide healthy drinks that are great alternatives to other commercially available beverages. So if you don’t think relying on coffee for your regular pick-me-ups is ideal, you can turn to Jamba Juice for healthier and fresher alternatives.
Their ingredient combinations also helped establish their brand. They came up with amazing recipes that mixed different kinds of ingredients to give you a good load of vitamins and nutrients. Their flavors are also taken into consideration, so you don’t have to worry about how it will taste like. All of the items in their menu are crafted to appeal to one’s palate.
Another thing that sets Jamba Juice apart from its competition is its use of boosters. These add-ons will help you further craft a healthier and more beneficial smoothie for your health goals. There are a few different options that promise different effects. They include 3G Energy, Daily Vitamin & Zinc, Whey Protein, and Soy Protein. You can also opt for natural ingredients instead if you’re more partial to whole foods, as boosts like pumpkin seeds, kale, ginger puree, peanut butter, matcha, chia seeds, spirulina, and Greek yogurt are also available.
