History

On 27 September 1977, Craig Nickoloff opened the doors of his first Claim Jumper Restaurant in Los Alamitos, California.  His original restaurant featured a large menu and interiors inspired by the 1849 California Gold Rush. In September 2010, Claim Jumper filed for bankruptcy. By October 2010, Landry’s acquired the chain for $76.6 million during an auction; Landry’s is a corporation solely owned by its CEO and President Tilman Fertitta who relocated Claim Jumper’s headquarters from Irvine, California to Houston, Texas. Under Landry’s, the chain appears set to expand its reach into many more major markets here and abroad. At present, it has a competitive presence in Arizona, Tennessee, California, Illinois, New Mexico, Nevada, Louisiana, Oregon, and Washington.
