Ameristar Kansas City has its roots in Station Casino, its original name when it opened its doors on January 16, 1997. On December 19, 2000, Ameristar Casinos acquired the property and renamed the resort to its current name.
But by August 2013, Pinnacle Entertainment acquired Ameristar Casinos and, thus, Ameristar Kansas City became part of the former. In April 2016, a change of ownership happened again when Gaming and Leisure Properties acquired the resort from Pinnacle Entertainment. Under the arrangement, Gaming and Leisure Properties owns the resort but Pinnacle Entertainment operates it.
What They Are Famous For
If you find yourself in Kansas City, especially in its northeast area, you cannot miss the Ameristar Kansas City because of its prominent buildings as well as its renown among the locals. The resort is among the best places, if not the best place, in the city to bring your family and friends for several days and nights of fun, entertainment and gambling.
The accommodations in the hotel are highly satisfactory, too – well-maintained, well-furnished with large screen televisions, refrigerators, and complimentary Wi-Fi access. The large casino space features more than 2,800 video poker and slot machines, nearly 60 table games, and a live poker room as well as an exclusive area for high rollers with slots and table games. The entertainment facilities include an entertainment venue and a movie theater so there’s always something fun to do while at Ameristar Kansas City.
Why Eat Here
The Ameristar Kansas City has several restaurants and a food court so there’s always plenty of choices for guests of the hotel and casino. The restaurants include Big Tony’s Pizza, Falcon Bakery, and Pearl’s Oyster Bar, which offer cuisines like Italian and American, as well as classic deli food. There’s even a sports bar, the Amerisports Brew Pub with its wide selection of alcoholic drinks and appetizers, a 365-inch flat-screen television, and a friendly ambiance.
For people who love buffets because of the reasonable prices for an all-you-can-eat experience, the Buffet at Ameristar Kansas City is the best choice. The buffet features several international cuisines including American, Asian, and Italian as well as a salad bar. The selection of dishes and desserts isn’t as numerous as in the well-known buffets in Las Vegas but the quality more than makes up it.
The Asian station features several types of noodles, chicken and pork dishes, such as the flavorful Shanghai chicken while the Italian station has classic Mediterranean dishes like fettuccine Alfredo with heaping servings of grated parmesan cheese. The Kansas City-style barbecue here is a must-try, too, especially when you’re looking for juicy, tender and flavorful meat grilled to perfection. The salad station always has food containers filled with the freshest fruits, vegetables and herbs so eating healthy is possible, too.
The Ameristar buffet prices are affordable, too, so it’s easy to bring along your family and friends for a feast at least once a day. Besides, the buffet experience here definitely beats room service and fast-food dining because of the opportunity to see and be seen, to choose from a more diverse selection, and to enjoy friendly service.
The Buffet at Ameristar also has several types of promotions. The Champagne Brunch Buffet is a Sunday-only event where guests can enjoy glasses of refreshing champagne with their meals – truly, a luxurious experience few people can enjoy in their homes on a daily basis. The Lunch Buffet is from Monday to Saturday while the Dinner Buffet is from Sunday to Wednesday; the hours and prices vary.
The Steak Night, usually on Thursdays, is the best time to come for meat lovers with a craving for prime rib cooked to perfection. The All You Can Eat Crab Legs event is every Friday and Saturday, usually from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and it’s popular among seafood lovers for obvious reasons. There are plenty of good things to be said about getting the fat, juicy meat from crab legs and getting as much as your stomach can handle.
Pro Tip: Ask for a baggy from the staff and get a few cookies as a take-home treat. You will not regret indulging in the sweet treat, especially when you need the sugar high for your all-night gambling session.
