About Spaghetti Warehouse

Of the restaurant chains offering Italian-American cuisine, the Spaghetti Warehouse stands out for the excellent quality of its signature dishes and desserts. The Spaghetti Warehouse prices also make it a group-friendly place where families and friends can celebrate life’s beauty including good food, good company, and good ambiance.

History

The Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant chain started with a single location in Dallas, Texas in 1972. The chain was acquired by Consolidated Restaurant Cos.in 1998, which was followed by its sale to Frandeli, Inc., an investment firm based in Los Angeles, California. Today, the chain has 10 locations mostly in the southern and eastern parts of the United States.

The chain is known for its preference for historic buildings as the locations for its restaurants, said buildings of which are usually renovated according to the restaurant’s planned design. Yet another distinctive feature of each restaurant is a trolley car where diners can also be seated.

The Columbus, Ohio restaurant is the largest location in the chain, both in terms of sales and seating capacity (i.e., 800 people).

What They’re Famous For

The Spaghetti Warehouse isn’t just known for its excellent Italian-American fare but also for its choice of location. Since many of the restaurants are located in renovated historic buildings, these are known for so-called spirit sightings. In fact, the Houston restaurant has been named as the city’s most haunted place although the atmosphere is usually festive, especially during peak hours.

Of course, the hearty, delicious and filling Italian-American dishes and desserts are the star attraction of every Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant. The company takes pride in its attention to detail in the choice of ingredients as well as in their preparation and presentation. The dishes are made from scratch and made according to family recipes handed down through the generations.

Why Eat Here

The Spaghetti Warehouse has one of the best Italian-American fare in whatever area its restaurants are located. This isn’t surprising considering the home-style recipes given the gourmet treatment for the dishes and desserts. The 15-layer Incredible Lasagna, for example, takes up to three days for the chefs to prepare from scratch, an intensive process that also applies to the hand-rolled signature meatballs.

For every entrée order, you will also be provided with a hot sourdough bread and garlic butter, both of which are filling snacks in themselves but you must leave room for the entrée! But the chain doesn’t stop there with pampering diners – you also have a choice between a savory soup and a healthy salad order.

Start your meal with an appetizer or two, which the Spaghetti Warehouse has perfected to a T. The choices include the Sicilian Sampler consisting of mozzarella fritta, toasted ravioli, and calamari; the stuffed mushrooms filled with seasoned meats, cheese and fresh tomato sauce; and classic bruschetta topped by Roma tomatoes that have been tossed in olive oil, lemon, garlic and fresh basil, among others.

The soups and salad selection is also a must-order, if only because these whet the appetite for more and serve as light meals or filling snacks. The choices include the chopped salad done in the Spaghetti Warehouse style, the classic Caesar salad, and the Italian wedding soup (i.e., diced chicken, chicken broth, noodles, meatballs, and spinach). The minestrone soup and beer chili, which has Samuel Adams Boston Lager, are great choices for the palate and tummy, too.

The Spaghetti Warehouse will not be the Spaghetti Warehouse without the spaghetti dishes! You have several choices, too, all of which evoke the comforts of home but taken to the gourmet level. You will love the classic Spaghetti and Meatballs, which has al dente spaghetti topped with pork-and-beef meatballs; Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, a delicious combo of beef, pork, Romano cheese, tomatoes and in-house sauce in either spicy or traditional; and Spaghetti Pomodoro, which consists of gluten-free spaghetti noodles, vegetable Pomodoro sauce, and fresh and sautéed vegetables.

And the 15-layer Lasagne is just so heavenly you will forgive yourself for the indulgence. The layers include premium lasagna noodles, Italian pork sausage, ground meat, Romano cheese, meat sauce, and mozzarella and ricotta cheeses with a topping of homemade meat sauce. Give your palate an adventure with the Alfredo sauce and chicken Parmigiana.

The Spaghetti Warehouse drinks are just as extensive. The Warehouse Sangria is a joy! The cocktails and wines complement the pasta dishes but there are also other beverage choices.

The chain’s restaurants accept reservations and takeout orders, as well as deliver catering services. These are great places for lunch and dinner, especially when you’re looking for filling meals and snacks.  The waiter service is fast, efficient and friendly, too.
