History

In 1947 Alex “Shoney” Schoenbaum established the first ever Shoney’s (was then called Parkette Drive-In) in Charleston, West Virginia. Seven years and four additional locations later, Parkette Drive-Ins were rebranded as Shoney’s. In 1974, it was named as the “Most Popular Restaurant in the Southeast” in which they gave a new segment in the food industry called “casual dining”. It was in 1998 that the restaurant chain experienced their best glory days when they had more than 1300 locations in 34 states of US.

Since then, they had experienced rough roads but in 2007, restaurant and development entrepreneur David Davoudpour purchased the Shoney’s brand with a promise to bring it back to its glory days. True to his words, It is still considered as one of the nation’s top casual dining restaurants today. Though they have been through a lot of changes in more than 60 years, it is still committed in providing their patrons with a family friendly place where you can enjoy excellent food choices and service at the best cost possible.
