About Rio Buffet

The Rio Buffet is technically known as Rio’s Carnival World and Seafood Buffet. You get 2 buffet locations, and you’ll love the place if you’re a seafood aficionado. The endless portions of fresh succulent seafood are simply divine.

A Brief History

The Rio has long been known as the favorite buffet of many of the local residents, and this was long before buffets like the Bacchanal came into the scene. The Carnival World was huge for its time, and it’s big even now. The hotel opened in 1990 and it has become famous for its Star Trek conventions and its association with the World Series of Poker.

But in late 2015 they added a second location that offered even more dishes for just a few dollars more. The addition increased the number of dishes to 300 selections per day, and for many that’s just right. It offers a huge number of options without being too overwhelming. The new buffet line offers an additional 70 seafood dishes, and for those with a taste for the ocean’s delight this is an offer that simply can’t be refused.

What They’re Famous For

Let’s first start with the regular buffet, which is actually a darn good deal on its own. This place doesn’t seem “regular” at all, as it offers dishes from just about every corner of the globe. You have Asian barbecue and fresh carved meats, teppan yaki and sushi, along with omelets and your favorite pizza. You get live-action cooking right before your eyes

The atmosphere is both fun and comfy, so you can just relax and enjoy the place. The casual vibe is great for both family outings and tense business meetings. Food navigation is a cinch, as the various stations are separated by the type of cuisine they offer. It’s very spacious, and moving about is smooth and easy.

Your buffet entrance fee gives you complimentary fountain drinks and juices, but for just $13 you can get unlimited house wine and beer.

But the real reason why you need to come here is to enjoy the extra 70 fresh seafood dishes for just an extra $20. The seafood catches are all fresh, and they’re from all over the world. Some of these seafood items aren’t easy to find, but you can find them here.

Of course, you can just chill out with some beer and a plate full of shrimp, crab legs, and oysters. That’s a fun evening for some folks. The more adventurous can try out the more exotic dishes that incorporate various types of seafood and you can find out for yourself what all the fuss is all about.

Why Eat Here?

Well, even if you’re not particularly a seafood fan, the place rocks with dishes from all over the globe. The live action food stations offer delightful dishes, in spacious and relaxed settings that make you feel comfortable right away. The place has always been relaxing, and they’ve ted the place to make it even more so—and to accommodate the greater number of food options available.

If you’re a fan of Italian food, there are lots of pizza and pasta options here. Meat lovers will appreciate the steaks and barbecue ribs, which can be carved to order. Sushi is available for fans of Japanese cuisine, while dim sum is also here for the Chinese food fans. The gelato flavors are downright addictive.

But if you really crave seafood, then there’s probably no better place on the entire Las Vegas Strip than here at the Rio Buffet. Pay the $20 upgrade fee, and you’ll realize just how much it’s worth the extra expense when it’s dinner time.

Here you can find Jonah crab claws and Cajun crawfish, along with black mussels in hot Thai tom yum broth. The sashimi is just fantastic. Some of the regular seafood dishes you can find in the regular buffet line are simply much better with the upgrade buffet.

The upgraded section is roped off, and to enter you need a sea creature stamp on your hand. This stamp is normally invisible, and can only be seen with black light. Just pay extra, and go into this heavenly section of succulent seafood. Here even the clam chowder is utterly terrific.

If you’re staying at the hotel, then you don’t really need to go anywhere for a great buffet as the Rio Buffet is excellent. But if you’re a seafood fan, you have to visit this place regardless of where you’re staying. You simply must—there’s no debate about it!
