History

Charley Watkins founded the first O’Charley’s in 1971 near Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Their original menu consists only of personal recipes of Charley’s wife. The couple intended the place to be just a small family restaurant where everyone who enters their humble place is treated like true relatives. Watkins managed the business until he sold it to David Wachtel in 1984. While Watkins wanted to keep the business a single-restaurant place, Wachtel wanted to develop it into a restaurant chain. Since then, the restaurant has grown continuously across some regions of United States. Although they have been through a lot of changes through all these years, O’Charley’s is still committed in providing their patrons with the traditional elements of Southern hospitality that features fresh Southern-style dishes served in generous portions, in a welcoming and friendly environment serviced by engaging staff.

O’Charley’s believes that one of the reasons why their customers keep coming back to their restaurant is because of their pledge in serving only the freshest and never frozen ingredients. Here’s are some of their Southern-inspired house specialties:

• O’Charley’s Famous Chicken Tenders – fresh and tender well-seasoned chicken breast tenders dipped in buttermilk and hand-breaded twice and cooked to perfection. Served as it is with honey mustard dressing or tossed in spicy Buffalo or Chipotle sauce.
• Southern Pecan Chicken Tender Salad – fresh mixed greens tossed with their house made balsamic vinaigrette, topped with Pecan-crusted white chicken meat tenders mixed with Mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, bleu cheese crumbles and candied pecans.
• Slow-Roasted Prime Ribs – USDA Choice prime rib well seasoned and hand-rubbed with a special mix of herbs and spices, slow-roasted to tender perfection and hand-carved to order.
