History of Johnny Carino’s

Norman Abdallah and Creed Ford III were former executives of Brinker International and decided to work together to form a new restaurant chain. This concept evolved into Johnny’s Carino Italian which opened its doors in 1997 in Austin, Texas. The chain gets its name from Chef Carino and the legacy lives on with the chefs that have since taken the mantle. The restaurant did go through a few name changes, starting with Johnny Carino’s Country Italian and then shifting to Johnny Carino’s Italian to Carino’s Italian Grill. Later on, by 2006, the chain has become known as Carino’s Italian although many fans still refer to it as Johnny Carino’s Italian. There are now over 170 locations in 30 states, showcasing just how popular the restaurant has become.
