History
Juan Francisco Ochoa opened the first El Pollo Loco restaurant in Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico in 1975. The name, by the way, means The Crazy Chicken in the Spanish language.
El Pollo Loco soon became a chain of restaurants popular in northern Mexico. By 1980, it expanded into the United States with the first international location in Los Angeles, California.
The chain has undergone several changes in ownership, from Denny’s acquisition in 1983 to its acquisition by American Securities Capital Partners in 1999 and by Trimaran Capital Partners in 2005. By July 2014, El Pollo Loco went public.

El Pollo Loco’s speciality dishes are the Mexican chicken entrees.
