History

On 31 March 1975, Larry Lavine opened his first Chili’s restaurant in a converted postal station in Dallas, Texas; the same restaurant moved from its original Greenville Avenue location in 1981 and then in 2007.  His concept: To create a full-service dining restaurant with an informal ambiance and with a menu featuring several types of hamburgers, all at affordable Chili’s prices. Such was its success that by the early 1980s, he was able to open 28 restaurants in the region with every restaurant featuring Southwest-inspired interiors. In 1983, he sold his company to Norman E. Brinker, the founder of Brinker International.

What They’re Famous For

Chili’s restaurants are known for their large selection of hamburgers, which can satisfy the appetite of children and adults alike. You can even choose from a few types of vegetarian burgers as well as the standard burgers. Your choices also include food items on the allergen menu, nutritional menu, and vegetarian menu.  You just have no reason not to try your neighborhood Chili’s, if and when you budget allows it, considering the menus to choose from.

Why Eat Here

Your reasons to eat at Chili’s are aplenty including:

  • Décor evokes the typical American diner with a Southwestern flair, especially with the wooden tables and benches, booth seating, and sufficient spacing between tables. Television sets are placed strategically throughout the dining area, which allows for both normal conversations (i.e., not too loud) and comprehension of the shows.
  • Food is also typically American with pictures and descriptions for the dishes, drinks and desserts. You will be hard-pressed to choose your preferred hamburger for the day, not to mention that you may want to share your order because of its large portions. You should try the Triple Dipper, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, and Chili Soup and Salad.
  • Waiters are usually fast on their feet. Just be patient when the place is full as everybody will want to have their orders delivered first.
