History
In 1995, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was created as a collaboration between Paramount Pictures, the film’s producer, and Rusty Pelican Restaurants, Inc. By 1996, the company opened its first restaurant in Monterey, California and it has been a success in the competitive restaurant industry ever since. In November 2010, it was acquired by Landry’s Inc. and has been a wholly-owned subsidiary since then. As of July 2015, there were 40 restaurants worldwide – 29 in the United States, 4 in Mexico, 3 in Malaysia, and 1 each in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Philippine – while its headquarters are in Houston, Texas.

As its name suggests, the restaurant chain is famous for its shrimp dishes, which come in several variations from steamed to creamed concoctions.
