On August 1964, Gus Agioritis opened his first restaurant, the Boston Pizza and Spaghetti House, in Edmonton, Alberta. By 1970, he added two more company-owned locations complemented by 15 franchised locations.
But in 1978, Gus Agioritis sold the company to Ron Coyle who, in turn, sold the growing Boston Pizza chain to Jim Treliving and George Melville. The new owners also operated more than a dozen Boston Pizza franchised locations of their own before their acquisition of the company.

As its name implies, Boston Pizza is best known for its choices in pizzas from traditional to the international, even a gluten-free pizza. The chain also offers BP Originals, a line of signature pizzas that continue to make the chain among the most competitive in the industry.
