Barberitos Prices

Tex-Mex food may have originated in Texas, as its name implies, but it has definitely become an integral part of American cuisine.  The distinctive cuisine has its roots in the Tejano culture of the Lone Star State, said culture of which was rooted in the traditions of Texans with Mexican and/or Spanish heritage at a time before Texas became a republic. The characteristic ingredients included cheese, chili powder, and cumin as well as beef, which were used in large quantities.

Barberitos is among the rising stars in the Tex-Mex food industry, thanks to its flavorful and filling burritos. The chain, which operates 54 restaurants as of April 2014, has its headquarters in Athens, Georgia. The name “Barberitos” is a portmanteau of its founder’s name, Downing Barber (Bar) and burritos (itos), its signature item.

History

The first Barberitos opened its doors to guests in Athens, Georgia near the North Campus of the University of Georgia. Today, there are several locations in Georgia as well as in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida.

What They’re Famous For

Barberitos is best known for its classic Tex-Mex fare, such as burritos, nachos, tacos and quesadillas. Many of these classic foods have contemporary twists, too, mainly to ensure that these appeal to the modern generation of diners. There are Fatty, Skinny, and Heavy D burritos, for example, as well as vegan and vegetarian entrées that will delight people with specific dietary needs.

The chain also takes pride in its use of the freshest ingredients – there are no refrigerators on site so fresh produce must be delivered daily – to ensure the best possible quality for its foods. Each restaurant also makes its own chips and avoids the use of pre-made ingredients and preservatives, which contributes to the budget-friendly and diner-friendly Barberitos prices.

Why Eat Here

Barberitos has a casual ambiance that makes it a great place for families and friends to enjoy great Tex-Mex foods. The noise level can be loud, especially during peak hours, but there’s always the outdoor seating option, not to mention that it isn’t too loud as to prevent good conversations. The Southwestern-style interiors make the guests feel like they have been transported to the South even when they are in Florida.

The chain has a quick-serve concept as against the fast-food concept. Each order can be made in front of the customers and in the customers’ preferred manner, although you can also just let the food preparers be. You will find that the Barberitos chain makes the best Tex-Mex food – or at least, among the best in whatever place its restaurants happen to be.

The staff from the busboys to the cashiers are friendly, courteous and efficient, too, so the lack of a waiter service isn’t a big loss. If you’re new to Tex-Mex food, you can even ask for recommendations, ask about the flavor profiles, and tell your dietary needs. You will find them to be more knowledgeable about the menu than in other restaurants with similar menus.

Of course, the food and drinks are always the meat, so to speak, of every restaurant and the Barberitos chain delivers well on it. The foods have a fresh quality to them – no wilted leafy green vegetables here – that makes it easy to eat healthy, even when you have already exceeded your daily calorie count. There are just so many choices that you will likely come back for several visits before enjoying all of them.

The choices in burritos alone will make your mouth water. Each burrito order comes with rice, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, vegetables and protein sources (e.g., sirloin steak, all-natural chicken, lean ground turkey, and tofu), as well as served in a tortilla of your choice including spinach, chipotle, wheat and flour. A side of salsa and chips are also included in the order for a complete meal.

The bowls are the burritos but served in a bowl. Each bowl overflows with a mixture of rice, beans, cheese, and pico de gallo with generous portions of your preferred protein source. You can satisfy your meat-loving side with sirloin steak or choose healthy options like organic tofu, lean ground turkey, and all-natural chicken.

The tacos are just as delectable. You can order them in your shell of choice, such as soft flour, hard corn, or soft corn, which will then be served with beans, rice, pico de gallo, vegetables, meats, and sides.

The salads are a refreshing way to add fiber, vitamins and minerals to your diet, especially when you add homemade dressings like ranch, Barberitos Southwestern chipotle ranch, and Barberitos Southwestern vinaigrette.  Be sure to try the nachos and quesadillas, too, since Tex-Mex cuisine will be incomplete without them.

Extras, such as steaks, salsa, sour cream, spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, guacamole, and avocados, are also available.

The chain also offers a kids’ menu known as Lil Barbs, which include kid-friendly burrito, taco, and quesadilla. Each order comes with a drink and cookie but the menu is only available for kids 12 years old and below.
