History

In 1989, Chuck Anderson, Dirk Rambo, and James Young opened their first Abuelo’s restaurant in Amarillo, Texas. Their goal: To provide diners with delectable Mexican food and drinks served within a casual Mexican setting with American efficiency. Today, the chain consists of 38 restaurants in 13 states across the United States – and counting since more restaurant openings are being planned. You will find that Executive Chef Luis Sanchez’ culinary creations are among the best in the casual dining industry, which isn’t surprising considering that he worked for a few of America’s best restaurants.

The Tex-Mex cuisine in Abuelo’s restaurants are the perfect blend between homemade goodness and gourmet appeal, a combo that diners say hit the right spot in their palates and stomachs.
