About Dog Haus
The main draws in Dog Haus restaurant are their gourmet hotdogs with unique toppings set on King’s Hawaiian rolls coupled with cold craft beers. The chain also have friendly staff, reasonable Dog Haus prices, and a picnic0like vibe –and there’s nothing more you can ask for in a hotdog-based restaurant!
History
Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and André Vener opened their first Dog Haus in Pasadena, California in 2010. More locations opened across the United States when people realized that the chain’s hotdogs, sausages and burgers were flavorful, as well as sized generously and made with natural ingredients (i.e., no additives).
What They’re Famous For
Dog Haus is known for its unique creations of hotdogs, sausages and burgers, as well as their unique combinations of toppings. These food products aren’t your usual classic American fare either because every bite brings the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The meat used in these products, such as the chicken and Black Angus beef, are also of the highest quality – no added nitrates, no preservatives, and no hormones and antibiotics.
Why Eat Here
Dog Haus restaurants have a casual, laidback atmosphere that border on a picnic ground, albeit in an interior setting. Families and friends, as well as a few couples, are among the dining crowd so there’s also a lively vibe. There’s no need to make reservations but it pays to come early for lunch and dinner before the hungry horde comes in.
In many restaurants, diners can enjoy al fresco dining. The interiors are brightly lit without being too hard on the eyes and the décor has a welcoming vibe to it. The tables and chairs are spaced relatively wide apart so literally rubbing elbows with your fellow diners doesn’t become an inconvenience.
The menu is an extensive as can be for a restaurant that mainly serves hotdogs, sausages, burgers, and chicken as well as sliders, sides, craft beer, and ice cream. There’s something for everyone on it, whether you like ginormous hotdogs or your Uncle Bob likes lamb and pork sausages.
Keep in mind that eating Dog Haus hotdogs can be a messy affair because of their large sizes and sloppy stacking. Plus, you may find that the toppings border on the excessive although it means getting more value for your money (i.e., quantity). Be sure to bring your appetite or be prepared to share because there’s just too much to be stuffed into your stomach.
You may start with the Beef Hot Dog, a delicious creation made of juicy, flavorful and thick tube steak or with the Little Mule, a hotdog with plenty of avocado, cotija cheese, melted white American cheese, chipotle mayo, pickled jalapeños, and runny fried egg. The meat and toppings are placed between a sliced fluffy King Hawaiian roll so everything tends to spill all over the place.
The Thai Red Currywurst is a must for people who like Asian flavors in their American food. The toppings include som tum slaw, red curry sauce, Thai basil, kaffir peanuts, and pickled jalapeños.
The Cheeseburger, on the other hand, has avocado, crispy onions, juicy tomatoes, arugula, and spicy basil aioli for a nice kick. The Lambda Lambda Lambda may be a mouthful to say but its combination of lamb and pork sausage, feta, tzatziki, diced onion, tomato, and pickles on grilled King Hawaiian rolls make it a joy to eat. No matter your order, we suggest getting the tater tots, a crispy, crunchy and delicious side dish that kids and adults love to munch on.
Adults can order from several craft beers as accompaniment to their hotdogs, sausages or burgers, a classic combination that Dog Haus has taken to another level. But for kids and adults who have a sweet tooth, the Salty Malty Milkshake is a must-have! It’s a thick, creamy and deeply satisfying treat with a salted caramel flavor and crunchy dulce pearls.
The food is always made to order so it’s served warm or cold depending on how it should be enjoyed, not to mention that there’s an underlying sense of freshness about each order. The staff members are quick on their feet so your orders will arrive within a few minutes of waiting, not to mention that they are courteous, helpful and friendly.
Dog Haus food can be high in fat and calories but since you can build your own hotdog, burger or sausage, you can decide how healthy it will be. You can add more vegetables, for example, or skip the dressing so that you can enjoy the food without getting a heart attack on the spot.
