About Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery has consistently delivered on premium ice cream for more than 30 years and it looks like it will be around for several decades more. In keeping with the universal appeal of ice cream, the chain has numerous shops in the United States, Canada and Mexico as well as in Nicaragua, El Salvador, China, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, and the Middle East, among other places.

History

Susan and Donald Sutherland, the founders of Cold Stone Creamery, envisioned a company that promotes the enjoyment of smooth and creamy premium ice cream, the kind that was neither hard-packed nor soft-served. In 1988, the same year it was founded, Cold Stone Creamery opened its first store in Tempe, Arizona. But it would take another seven years before its first franchised store opened in Tucson, Arizona. 

Kahala Brands is the current owner of the international ice cream chain; corporate headquarters are in Scottsdale, Arizona. Aside from the world-famous Cold Stone Creamery brand, the company has also engaged in co-branding ventures with Tim Hortons, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and Soup Kitchen International.

The Apple Pie A La Cold Stone is an apple pie – graham cracker pie crust with just the right amount of apple pie filling – in ice cream form, a treat that doesn’t disappoint no matter how many times you’ve eaten it.  The That’s How I Roll ice cream mixes cinnamon rolls with cake batter and yellow cake, an extra-rich ice cream that gives new meaning to cinnamon.  The Peanut Butter Cup Perfection has Reese’s peanut butter cups, an addictive flavor that we won’t complain about even with its strong peanut butter aftertaste.
