Cold Stone Creamery has consistently delivered on premium ice cream for more than 30 years and it looks like it will be around for several decades more. History

Susan and Donald Sutherland, the founders of Cold Stone Creamery, envisioned a company that promotes the enjoyment of smooth and creamy premium ice cream, the kind that was neither hard-packed nor soft-served. In 1988, the same year it was founded, Cold Stone Creamery opened its first store in Tempe, Arizona. But it would take another seven years before its first franchised store opened in Tucson, Arizona. 

Kahala Brands is the current owner of the international ice cream chain; corporate headquarters are in Scottsdale, Arizona. Aside from the world-famous Cold Stone Creamery brand, the company has also engaged in co-branding ventures with Tim Hortons, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and Soup Kitchen International.
